Kopal Seth

Kopal Seth is an artist based in Khurai, Madhya Pradesh, working primarily with ceramics and mixed media. She holds an MFA in Ceramics from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), USA, and a BFA in Painting from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. Her practice explores themes of overpopulation, architecture, and environmental disruption shaped by human intervention. Drawing from ancient forms and historical motifs, she integrates geometric abstraction to construct dense, urban-like landscapes that reflect tensions between tradition and rapid urbanization. Her works often extend beyond the visual into tactile experiences, combining clay with textured materials to evoke lived and emotional terrains. Rooted in her experiences of post-colonial India and global movement, her work reflects complex human and environmental relationships. Through material and form, she addresses emotional conflict and collective memory. Kopal’s practice creates a dialogue between past and present, questioning how cultural identities persist amid change. Her work has been exhibited internationally and supported by major residencies and fellowships.
