In Ekta’s work, the essence lies in her personal interpretation of layered experiences intricately woven with elements drawn from design motifs and forms inspired by Mughal, Persian, and Rajput miniature paintings. Her deep interest in these artistic traditions has enabled her to craft a distinct visual language of her own. The visual encounters she has consciously and subconsciously absorbed over time manifest themselves on the pictorial surface, enriched with metaphorical and personal references. Memories and anecdotes from her ancestral home and lineage in Bangladesh have exerted a profound influence on her artistic expression. Ekta views the creation of patterns not merely as ornamental design, but as a significant visual tool to subtly transform experiences, including disturbing events and memories, through their consistent presence. Her aim is to construct a visual trope with these imageries, ensuring they do not become overly didactic but instead compel the viewer to engage with the works, thereby articulating her artistic vision.
