Hansika Sharma, a textile artist, delves into the intricacies of indigo, embroidery, and personal transformation in her work. With a profound connection to the color indigo as a reflection of her inner self, she explores its historical significance, from shaping world politics to its alchemical journey from green to deepest blue, mirroring her own struggles with melancholy and tranquility. Her artistic journey intertwines personal evolution, human psychology, and socio-political themes, reflected in the complex imagery of embroidered threads and organic forms resembling roots and nervous systems. Currently, Hansika is immersed in a series of artworks, ranging from small pieces to large-scale tapestries, symbolizing her two-year diary of growth, challenges, and introspection.
In 2017, Hansika presented “All Those Reveries” at the Huthesing Visual Art Centre in Ahmedabad, followed by “A Cacophony” at Amdavad Ni Gufa and Satya Art Gallery in 2018. She continued with “A Cacophony iii” at Karnataka Chitrakala Pareshad in Bangalore. In 2022, her solo exhibition “Saw Myself Staring at Myself at the Bluest Mirror” took place at Threshold Art Gallery in New Delhi. Additionally, she participated in collaborative exhibitions like “Beyond the Walls” at Drift Arte, Jaipur in 2018, and group shows such as “Alchemy: Explorations in Indigo” at Kasturbhai Lalbhai Museum in 2019. Her recent showcase includes “Xtant Roots” in Palma De Mallorca, Spain, in 2024.
